Pastors J.D. Swiley
Ignite Ministries
Resurrection Fellowship
Loveland, CO 80538

    Dear Pastor J.D.,

Next year i am going to apply to Colorado State University, and the University of Northern Colorado. I would greatly appreciate it if you would write a letter of recommendation for my admittance into CSU. Since you have been my pastor for three years, you know how I interact with others, and my qualities as a person.

As my pastor, you have seen the way I behave outside of school, and away from most adults. You have seen some of the hard work that i put into assignments and even things outside of classes. You know that I am honest and trustworthy, as well as hard-working. I believe that you have a good sense of whether or not I have the qualities that are needed to succeed in the educational environment that CSU provides.  I am planning on majoring in English Literature and Creative Writing, and minoring in Art. I have taken as many writing, literature, and art classes as possible to give myself a fair chance at success.

Please send your letter to me by August 21, 2011. Thank you so much for your help and your time, and I really appreciate you doing this for me should you choose to. If you need any more information please call me at (970)587-0254 or email me at b0bblehead14@q.com.
Yours truly,

Jordan Barrett

RHS Alumni Scholarship Application Paper

The future is a completely undefinable thing. It changes with age and decisions and time. When we were little our parents and teachers would ask us what we wanted to be when we were older. We would tell them things like policeman, firefighter, artist, and rockstar, but now that we are older and we actually have to give them a serious answer, we have to decide. We have to know what we want to do, and how we are going to do it. We have to know exactly how we are going to achieve our dreams. So here is my answer. I want to be a writer.
The written word is a very powerful thing, and I know that I can make a difference with it. I want to study literature, poetry, and creative writing so that I can make an impact in people's lives, and I am willing to do what it takes to get there. I want poetry and literature to speak to other people the way that it has spoken to me.  I am going to improve my GPA by re-taking classes my senior year to get into college. I am going to work my way through school, and do the best that I can in my classes. I will take as many English, literature, poetry, and writing classes as I can to get where I need to be with my writing to get published. I will major in English Literature, Poetry, and Writing, and get a teaching degree while I write at home. I will teach and work as hard as I can to get my work published, and even if I cant I can still change people by teaching. I would do anything to get my work published and out in the world, and I would do anything with my writing to change other's lives.
