To whom it may concern:
I wish to apply to the University of Northern Colorado. I have maintained an academic GPA of 2.7 throughout high school, taken three years of Spanish, and have done work for my community, as well as demonstrated leadership through sports and extracurricular activities outside of school. Every December I have volunteered at the Samaritains Purse, helping package boxes of Christmas presents for Operation Christmas Child. All of the shoe-box gifts are shipped with missionaries to poor countries to children who have nothing. I have also been on the highschool volleyball team for three years.
My family has never had a lot of money. Yes, we can provide for ourselves, but we are not able to provide the money for me to attend college. In the future I hope to be able to sell books that I have written, or to be an art instructor in a public high school. Recieving a scholarship from the University of Northern Colorado would make the cost of an education lower, and my goals easier and more possible to achieve.
I will graduate from Roosevelt High School in May of 2012, and I hope to study Liberal Arts, Graphic Arts, and Foreign Languages in college. Along with volunteer work and volleyball, I also participated in Concert Choir every year of school, and Theatre for one year. Both of these demanded extra time outside of my classes with time after school, and on weekends.
While being a student at Roosevelt High School, I worked for my aunt as her babysitter as well as her house keeper. this required me to occasionally watch her children late into the night. With this I have maintained a 2.7 GPA as well as participating in extracurricular activities. I am not currently employed, but am looking for work. Over spring break, and my other breaks from school, I worked for Rhona Fitch at Alpine ENT as a file clerk. This provided me with knowledge of organization, as well as how an office is to be run. From this experience, I also learned how to keep others in the office organized, and furthered my communication skills. I can be reached at 970-587-0254 or b0bblehead14@q.com. Thank you for your time and consideration, and thank you for helping and providing an education for young, driven students.
sincerely,
Jo Barrett
